Updating the ATP Website: New Hub

By Louis Trapani - Posted on 07 June 2008

At long last, the update to the Art Trap Productions website is underway. This is something I have been meaning to do for quite a few years now. The last time I attempted it was back in 2005. At that time I was using the Dreamweaver suite of software to do it as I had been for... well for many years. Probably since Dreamweaver was up to version 2. Yep, that long ago.

But it was also in 2005 in which I relaunched the Gallifreyan Embassy website. Making it completely interactive using a CMS (Geeklog) to facilitate it. I knew then, that I would want to use a CMS for the ATP site as well. But having already found some of the limitations with the CMS I was using for the GE website, I knew I needed to explore other options.

I had the opportunity to get my feet wet with Drupal developing another website (to be announced soon)... I figured it would be advantageous for me to get better familiar with the CMS by also using it for the ATP site.

So much for the technical side of it. I have also decided to use this site (once again) as a hub of my digital presence on the net. Especially since that is growing all the time... I really want to have one site that will tie it all together. Why use my company site to accomplish that, well I see it all related. Now that ATP is forging forward in the realms of new media, it is all connected.

This is my first blog post here on the ATP site, I also recently started once again to keep a blog on my personal site Trapped On Earth, a .Mac site. I may continue to maintain that one in addition to my personal blog space here on the ATP site. I will see how things pan out with them both. I may keep the .Mac one a tad more personal.

Cheers,
Louis
