Final Cut Pro X is Now Available in the Mac App Store

Final Cut Pro X

Apple has released Final Cut Pro X to the Mac App Store (store link: Final Cut Pro - Apple®) today. The long awaited upgrade for this professional movie editor software has been rewritten from the ground up. The big news when it was announced a few months ago was that it would be coming to the Mac App Store with a new price of only $299 (previously FCP itself was $999). Other companion apps that had been included in Final Cut Pro Studio suite such as Motion and Compressor are sold separately also in the Mac Store for $49 each. It doesn't look like Soundtrack Pro has made the cut though, at least not yet.

Blogworld and New Media Expo Comes to New York

Leo Laporte Keynote at Blogworld & NME 2009Leo Laporte Keynote at Blogworld & NME 2009

I was very excited to learn that BlogWorld and New Media Expo are doing their first east coast event this May when they announced it a few weeks ago. Previous Blogworld & New Media Expo events took place in Las Vegas, NV. For once I will now be able to attend a expo without having to fly there (I don't mind the actual flying, it is everything else that is part of the commercial airline experience I could do without).

Riding The Chronic Rift

Once again I had the pleasure of being a guest on The Chronic Rift ( @chronic_rift ) podcast with John Drew and Keith R.A. DeCandido hosting and with fellow guest, Chris S. Carothers. In this latest roundtable episode (126), we discuss fan clubs. Predominantly Doctor Who and Star Trek clubs were discussed in this episode. Chris shared information about the club, USS Richthofen, a chapter of Starfleet, The International Star Trek Fan Association, Inc., while I was there speaking about the Gallifreyan Embassy, the Doctor Who club I founded in 1985 as well as Doctor Who: Podshock.

RIM Launches Blackberry Podcasts with Doctor Who: Podshock

Doctor Who: Podshock on Blackberry SmartphonesJust as Doctor Who: Podshock is celebrating it's 5th year in production, Research In Motion (RIM) has launched its new free Blackberry Podcast service and application. Among the initial offerings of podcasts included is the popular venerable Doctor Who: Podshock. The new service allows Blackberry smart-phones to find, download, and consume podcasts on the mobile device from leading providers. Content can be downloaded via Wi-Fi or over the cellular network and played on the Blackberry player.

We are very pleased to have Doctor Who: Podshock included among other shows part of the Wizzard Media network on the service as part of their launch. We look forward to listeners from the many Blackberry users out there across the world.

Please Take the National Listener Survey for ADM

The Association for Downloadable Media (ADM), a non-profit organization serving podcast producers, is seeking information on consumers' attitudes of advertising within podcasting. The ADM is looking for audience attitudes and reactions to things like ad style, delivery and placement. The results of this survey will allow podcast producers to best fulfill the expectations of their audience as they pertain to advertising and their reactions to it.

The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and you will not be asked to provide any personal contact information.
